A Climate of Tyranny: Weaponizing “Mother Earth” for Global Economic & Political Control

AT A GLANCE

• Climate alarmism is being used to justify global control.

• Education and science have been co-opted to push the agenda.

• Agenda 2030 enables global control through climate and economic policies.

• Trump is pushing back against the globalist hoax.

The globalist agenda for world domination is inseparable from the pseudo-environmentalism that has found its most alarmist and dangerous expression in the “climate” narrative. In fact, the global economic, political, and religious transformation taking place right now is underpinned every step of the way by carefully manufactured hysteria surrounding man-made “global warming.” In the crosshairs: the human beings responsible for the “emissions” of CO2 allegedly to blame for “climate change.”

Longtime Socialist International leader António Guterres, who now leads the United Nations as secretary-general, has been clear. “Global problems require global solutions,” he says frequently. And while this slogan is applied to all sorts of real and imagined problems, none is more central to the global agenda than climate change. As Guterres said at the 2022 UN climate summit in Egypt, “We are on the highway to climate hell, with our foot still on the accelerator.”

The idea of using the supposed threat of global warming and environmental problems to seize power was articulated clearly by the globalist Club of Rome decades ago. Sometimes described as the world’s “most prestigious think tank,” with members including former Soviet dictator Mikhail Gorbachev and other powerhouses, the club has been central to the effort to use concerns about the environment to pursue what they euphemistically refer to as “global governance.”

In 1991, as the Cold War was ostensibly ending and governments needed new excuses to keep overtaxing and controlling citizens, the Club of Rome released The First Global Revolution. “In searching for new enemy to unite us, we came up with the idea that pollution, the threat of global warming … would fit the bill,” the report said. “All these dangers are caused by human intervention and it is only through changed attitudes and behaviour that they can be overcome. The real enemy, then, is humanity itself.”

Humanity or CO2?

Indeed, humanity now has a big target on its back. Because every single human activity (including breathing) releases carbon dioxide, it is literally the perfect excuse to control every human and every human activity. Everything from driving and transportation to agriculture and electricity releases some CO2 into the atmosphere. Despite advocacy for “net zero,” there is no way to eliminate human CO2 emissions without eliminating humans. As such, the goalposts are always moving and the tyranny must always be turned up.

But from a scientific standpoint, the idea that CO2 is “pollution” is absurd. In fact, scientists know it as the gas of life, with plants thriving in concentrations four to five times higher than what is present in the current atmosphere. That is why farmers pump it into greenhouses. In any case, all human emissions of CO2 combined make up a fraction of one percent of all the “greenhouse gas” (GHG) present naturally in the atmosphere. Peer-reviewed scientific literature also continues to debunk the notion that human CO2 is producing dangerous warming.

And leading scientists are sounding the alarm. “CO2 is actually good for the world, and people ought to be encouraged to make more of it,” Princeton physics Professor William Happer, who served as Donald Trump’s climate advisor during his first term, told The New American magazine in an interview. “This is the same evil fanaticism that has plagued mankind since we began,” Happer said of the idea that CO2 is a dangerous pollutant that must be regulated.

Dozens of other leading scientists, including many who have served on the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, have echoed those remarks in interviews with The New American. And yet, despite their impeccable credentials from Ivy League universities, their views are almost never aired in the establishment media, except occasionally to demonize them.

Global Power Grabs for “Climate”

Examples proving that “climate” is the primary pretext for the global political and economic transformation being pushed from the top are endless. As this is being written, the UN International Maritime Organization (IMO) is finalizing the details of the UN’s first-ever tax on humanity. The rationale is simple: Three percent of global greenhouse-gas emissions come from global shipping across oceans, and therefore a carbon tax is needed to save Mother Earth and humanity from climate change.

Under the plan, set to receive final approval in October, the UN will impose taxes on ships based on a complex formula involving their emissions. UN officials expect the money to start rolling in by early 2027. The revenue will go to reward companies that best adhere to UN demands, as well as to governments of “developing” countries. In short, there will soon be a giant slush fund, bypassing member governments, to be used at the discretion of UN agencies and bureaucrats.

But of course, once the camel’s nose is under the tent and the precedent set, UN taxes on CO2 and everything else that is supposedly bad for “people” or “planet” will proliferate. Inevitably, these new revenue streams will be used to fund everything from armies and police to social engineering and propaganda. This massive global power grab is being justified every step of the way under the guise of saving the environment and the climate.

Separately, the UN’s World Court, formally known as the International Court of Justice, is getting ready to issue a landmark ruling on the supposed “legal obligations of states with respect to climate change.” The Biden administration sent a State Department lawyer to support the kangaroo-court proceedings last year as the panel was taking testimony and arguments from almost 100 governments.

Dubbed by top UN officials the most important case in planetary history, it is being used by the court to declare activities that supposedly contribute to climate change — basically everything — to be illegal. It is also being asked to facilitate the looting of what is left of the middle class in the West. That money will be handed out as reparations to kleptocrats misruling the Third World.

“This may well be the most consequential case in the history of humanity,” said Special Envoy for Climate Change and the Environment Ralph Regenvanu of the Republic of Vanuatu, the government that ostensibly led the charge to have the case heard. “We look to the Court for recognition that the conduct which has already caused immense harm to my people and so many others is unlawful, that it must cease, and that its consequences must be repaired.”

The Underlying Agreements

Guiding all these various programs, power grabs, and initiatives are several overarching international agreements that globalists refer to as “international law.” The first is known as Agenda 21, also dubbed the UN’s “Agenda for the 21st Century.” Across hundreds of pages agreed to on behalf of the U.S. government by George H.W. Bush in 1992, the comprehensive plan for so-called sustainable development is laid out and applied to every sector of society.

The New American has reported on this extensively for decades. And while multiple states have passed laws against it, the ideas continue to be implemented by governments at every level — often with federal funding. During the Clinton administration, a series of executive orders, including “Executive Order 12852 — President’s Council on Sustainable Development,”injected the scheme into every federal agency, program, and department possible.

As the deal makes clear, the ultimate goal is global governance, Communist China-style. “AGENDA 21 proposes an array of actions which are intended to be implemented by every person on Earth,” the summary of the scheme declares. “Effective execution of AGENDA 21 will require a profound reorientation of all human society, unlike anything the world has ever experienced.” And indeed it will. Under the guise of “sustainability,” everything everywhere must be regulated and controlled by the UN and its members.

Elements of the true agenda behind sustainability were hinted at more than 50 years ago in the UN’s “Vancouver Declaration,” adopted in 1976 by the UN Conference on Human Settlements (Habitat I). “Land cannot be treated as an ordinary asset controlled by individuals,” reads the agreement. “Private land ownership is … a principal instrument of accumulation and concentration of wealth, and therefore contributes to social injustice. Public control of land use is therefore indispensable.”

UNFCCC

The same year that Agenda 21 was adopted, in 1992, UN member governments agreed to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. This is the legally binding, operational arm of the effort to transform the global economy and society that was ratified by the U.S. Senate. Under the UNFCCC, the UN hosts an annual climate summit — the Conference of the Parties, or COP — at which subsequent agreements are adopted.

These new annual agreements under the UNFCCC include the Paris Agreement, adopted in 2015. Under that scheme, then-President Barack Obama promised to decimate the U.S. economy by reducing U.S. emissions by about a third over the decade that followed. The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) celebrated the news and pledged that the CO2 emissions of its victims would continue increasing until at least 2030.

This writer has attended the annual UN climate summits for The New American magazine almost every year since COP15 in 2009 in Copenhagen, Denmark. And, like clockwork, each year the extremism becomes more brazen as the hysteria surrounding alleged man-made warming gets more shrill. Naturally, the annual deals made under the UNFCCC get more and more extreme with each year that passes, too.

At last year’s summit in Baku, Azerbaijan, for example, governments agreed to rules for a global CO2 regime. The year before that, meeting on the Arabian Peninsula, they agreed to “phase out” hydrocarbon energy (even as the Chinese and Arab regimes negotiated oil deals at the summit). And the year before that, governments met in Egypt to hammer out a deal on global reparations from what is left of the middle class in the West to the kleptocrats misruling the Third World. In 2025, governments will meet at the UN summit in Brazil to discuss new and more draconian pledges to “save the world” from climate change.

The 2030 Agenda SDGs

In addition to the climate “process,” the UN has broad plans in the form of “goals” to meet. Just as with the Soviet Union’s grandiose visions, the 100-year vision for humanity laid out in Agenda 21 is broken down into more manageable components. From 2000 to 2015, the guide was known as the “Millennium Development Goals.” These goals sought to advance the UN’s political, educational, cultural, economic, and environmental agendas across every sector of society.

In 2015, the UN adopted in their place the Agenda 2030 “Sustainable Development Goals,” known as the SDGs for short. The end goal is to “transform” the world and save “Mother Earth,” as the document repeatedly refers to the planet. Ushered in by the late Pope Francis at the UN General Assembly, the scheme was adopted by “consensus” to raucous applause by presidents, prime ministers, dictators, and potentates.

Chillingly, it was described by then-President of the UN General Assembly Peter Thomson as the “master plan for humanity.” No one, the document states repeatedly, will be “left behind.” It is so all-encompassing that then-UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon referred to the deal as the “global Declaration of Interdependence.” Estimates suggested the cost annually would be in the trillions of dollars.

The indoctrination of children into the new paradigm is a fundamental part of Agenda 2030, as it was for Agenda 21. The documents themselves speak clearly on how “education” (read: indoctrination) is essential to the whole plot. “Education is critical for promoting sustainable development,” Agenda 21 explained in chapter 36. “Both formal and non-formal education are indispensable to changing people’s attitudes.”

Agenda 2030, meanwhile, notes in Goal 4, which deals exclusively with education, that “all learners” must be so “educated” that they will not just submit to “sustainable development,” but actively “promote it.” Education for “global citizenship” is also mandatory under the program.

Under the New Age-style “Inner Development Goals” being pushed by the UN and friends, climate is key. And at the last UN climate summit, the UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development announced that international standardized academic tests would include “climate literacy” going forward. Using “social-emotional learning,” children are right now being psychologically conditioned to view everything through the lens of climate and the environment.

Illustrating how climate now transcends the entire globalist agenda, even Goal 3 of Agenda 2030, dealing with “good health and well-being,” is now being framed in terms of climate change. World Health Organization (WHO) Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, a former communist terror leader, has argued repeatedly that climate change is a major “health crisis” — perhaps the most important one.

As WHO Department of Environment, Climate Change and Health Director Dr. Maria Neira explained to The New American at the latest UN climate summit in Baku: “Climate change represents global warming, and global warming creates perfect conditions for certain diseases.” Because of this, numerous globalist leaders have publicly called for using Covid-style lockdown policies and tyranny to deal with this alleged public health crisis.

Economic Transformation

The Agenda 2030 SDGs themselves make the plan for global tyranny very clear. Goal 10, for instance, declares that national socialism is no longer enough — now international socialism and wealth redistribution will be needed. It calls on the UN and governments to “reduce inequality within and among countries.” That, the agreement continues, will “only be possible if wealth is shared and income inequality is addressed.”

Government control over production and consumption will be needed, too, Agenda 2030 declares. “We commit to making fundamental changes in the way that our societies produce and consume goods and services,” it explains. The agreement calls for government control of healthcare, mental health, agriculture, fishing, and virtually every other field. It fits nicely with the UN’s Pact for the Future, which aims to transform the UN into a “UN 2.0” that oversees every area of life and government.

The UN is leading the political component of global transformation. But the economic piece — described as the “second leg” of the three-legged political, economic, and religious (see “Religions of the World Unite!”) “stool” needed for global change — is just as significant. As then-UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres famously put it, “This is the first time in the history of mankind that we are setting ourselves the task of intentionally, within a defined period of time, to change the economic development model that has been reigning for at least 150 years, since the Industrial Revolution.”

Accomplishing this historic economic transformation naturally requires help from Big Business, so the World Economic Forum (WEF) signed a “strategic partnership” with the UN to bring the business community to heel on Agenda 2030. The partnership involves six areas of focus, including financing for the agenda, “climate change,” and more. WEF founder and longtime boss Klaus Schwab famously advocated for the “Great Reset,” and is a very public fan of the Communist Chinese “model.”

To understand how the WEF and its associated entities are working on this, it helps to understand asset-management company BlackRock. This firm, with more than $10 trillion under management, is forcing the global agenda on companies worldwide through control of shares and investment flows. It even forces suppliers and those who want to do business with big WEF members to submit. And BlackRock’s leader, Larry Fink, who boasts of forcing “behavior change” on companies, is on the board of the WEF (and the globalist Council on Foreign Relations).

The Politics: Trump Pushing Back

The global push to enslave humanity, globalize government, and empower the CCP under the guise of saving the planet from CO2 emissions was proceeding smoothly — until Donald Trump showed up. Trump famously took aim at climate alarmism more than a decade ago, calling it a hoax to benefit the CCP. And during his first term, he pushed back, opening up U.S. energy, rolling back regulations, reining in U.S. funding for climate schemes, and even starting the process of withdrawing from the UN’s Paris Agreement.

Since then, Trump has doubled down, even declaring before taking office the second time that the climate “hoax” must be a top target of his MAGA movement and America at large. “One of the most urgent tasks, not only for our movement, but for our country, is to decisively defeat the climate hysteria hoax,” he argued during a 2022 talk in Florida in which he lambasted green energy and the alarmism surrounding CO2.

He hit the fraud hard on the 2024 campaign trail, too. “We don’t have a global warming problem; they don’t use that term anymore,” he said. “At certain points it starts to cool a little bit … so they changed it. You know what the term is? Climate change. This way, if it gets warmer … if it gets cooler, if it rains, if snow comes down in the middle of the summer, it’s climate change…. And we’ve spent trillions and trillions of dollars … putting windmills all over these magnificent plains, and fields, and valleys, and oceans…. It’s all a big hoax.”

Not Just Words

Upon taking office on January 20, 2025, Trump went to war against this “hoax” like no world leader has ever done. On his very first day in office, he issued an executive order titled “Putting America First in International Environmental Agreements.” Among other directives, the president ended U.S. support for all international climate agreements negotiated under the UNFCCC, including the Paris Agreement, “effective immediately.” He also ordered all of it to be defunded.

On the domestic front, Trump instructed all executive-branch agencies to identify regulations traceable to those UN agreements and get rid of them. And, perhaps even more importantly, he ordered the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to review its “endangerment finding.” That 2009 finding, issued under Obama, labeled CO2 “pollution” requiring regulation under the Clean Air Act. The EPA finding underpins much of the regulatory assault on U.S. energy, manufacturing, agriculture, and more.

Regarding Agenda 2030, the Trump administration dropped a bomb at the UN General Assembly in March that shocked observers. Edward Heartney, counselor for Economic and Social Affairs at the U.S. Mission to the UN, delivered the news. “Although framed in neutral language, Agenda 2030 and the SDGs advance a program of soft global governance that is inconsistent with U.S. sovereignty and adverse to the rights and interests of Americans,” he said. “Put simply, the globalist endeavors like Agenda 2030 and the SDGs lost at the ballot box. Therefore, the United States rejects and denounces the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals, and will no longer reaffirm them as a matter of course.”

On the global taxation front, Trump is hitting back hard, too. As IMO government delegates were in negotiations, the Trump administration circulated a letter warning them that the U.S. government would not play ball. “President Trump has made it clear that the U.S. will not accept any international environmental agreement that unduly or unfairly burdens the U.S. or the interest of the American people,” the letter explained. “Accordingly, we must be clear the U.S. rejects any and all efforts to impose economic measures against its ships based on GHG emissions or fuel choice.”

The U.S. government, blasting the scheme as an effort to “redistribute wealth under the guise of environmental protection,” also warned that it would protect American shipping and taxpayers from any global taxes imposed by the IMO. “Should such a blatantly unfair measure go forward, our government will consider reciprocal measures so as to offset any fees charged to U.S. ships and compensate the American people for any other economic harm from any adopted GHG emissions measures,” the letter continued. “The Trump Administration will protect the American people and their economic interests.”

Science & the Battle Ahead

So far, most of what Trump has accomplished has been through executive authority. As seen after his first term, though, that means the next Democratic president could (and almost certainly will) simply undo it all with the stroke of a pen. And that means the battle for stopping the exploitation of climate hysteria and environmental concerns for globalist tyranny is far from over, even in the United States.

Of course, Americans do not believe the hype. According to a 2023 poll released by the AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, less than half of American voters even believe human activities are causing climate change. Less than one in three voters were willing to spend even one additional dollar on their monthly energy bill to fight supposed climate change. In short, decades of propaganda have failed to convince most people. And even those who are convinced are not overly concerned.

Dr. Willie Soon, a longtime astrophysicist who recently left Harvard to launch an independent agency, has joined with dozens of other top scientists around the world to address these issues from a scientific perspective. Just over the last few years, they have released at least three peer-reviewed studies debunking the CO2 hysteria. “The world is not dangerously heating because of human CO2, that is simple,” Soon told The New American in an interview.

Unfortunately for humanity, though, brazen, taxpayer-funded censorship is working to protect humanity from these incontrovertible facts. Speaking at the World Economic Forum’s “Sustainable Development Impact Meetings” in 2022, UN Under-Secretary-General for Communications Melissa Fleming boasted of the UN’s partnership with Google to silence dissenting voices on climate. “If you Google climate change, you will, at the top of your search, get all kinds of UN resources,” she said, smirking. “We started this partnership when we were shocked to see that when we Googled climate change, we were getting incredibly distorted information right at the top…. We own the science.”

Many of the top results for Agenda 2030, climate change, sustainability, and other topics were links to The New American magazine’s groundbreaking reporting on those issues. However, now it is almost impossible to find those stories, even with the name of the author and the headlines of the articles. Clearly, Google has rigged its algorithms to promote UN propaganda and hide alternate views, just as Fleming boasted.
