British government advertises job for sharia court

The British government has sparked outrage after advertising a job opening for a sharia court.

The Department of Work and Pensions listed the opening for a Sharia Law Administrator on its “Find a Job” platform. Requirements for the role, which pays £23,500 ($31,553) a year, include a degree in Islamic sharia law and experience working in sharia courts in Muslim countries. The position involves performing administrative work for the Manchester Sharia Council.

Although sharia law is not legally recognized in the UK, as many as 85 sharia courts have sprung up across Britain, making it the Western capital of Islam’s legal system.

Sharia law is becoming increasingly pervasive in the UK as its Muslim population continues to grow. As far back as 2008, then-Archbishop of Canturbury Rowan Williams said adopting parts of sharia law into the British legal system is “unavoidable” given the growing influence of Islam.

Comprising 6.5% of the population in England and Wales, Muslims are the second largest religious group. At least 25 Muslims serve in the UK Parliament, and several major British cities—including London, Birmingham, and Leeds—are headed by Muslim mayors. The Muslim name “Mohammed” has been the most popular name for baby boys in England for the last eight years.

Britain is also the Western capital for Islamic finance. The UK accounts for about 85% of all Islamic banking assets in Europe, according to estimates, more than any other European country (excluding Turkey). There are at least five banks in the UK that are fully compliant with Sharia law. According to TheCityUK, “the UK is the main hub for Islamic banking in the Western world.”

The UK’s growing Islamic presence explains the government’s increased alignment with Islam.

Blasphemy laws to protect Islam

British officials are preparing to codify a definition for the word “Islamophobia,” one that critics say will amount to a blasphemy law and disproportionately protect Islam from criticism. First introduced in medieval times, the UK’s prohibition against blasphemy outlawed criticism of Christianity. The law was abolished in 2008. The effort to now define “Islamophobia” is being championed by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner.

Preferential treatment

British authorities have repeatedly provided preferential treatment to Islamists. In 2023, for example, a woman who drunkenly assaulted a bowling alley employee and shouted racial slurs in public dodged an abstinence order because she was Muslim. While normally, shouting the word “n*gger” or even posting it online could lead to arrest in the UK, 20-year-old Husina Hussain was let off with a light sentence so she would not miss Friday prayers in the mosque.

In late 2023, when pro-Hamas protests swept Britain after Hamas terrorists massacred more than 1,200 Israelis on October 7th, police protected the terror supporters. During one demonstration, police asked counterprotesters to keep their British flags held back. When asked why they were allowing PLO flags to be flown but not British ones, an officer replied: “There's way more of them than there is of us.”

When Suella Braverman, the Home Secretary at the time, warned about the double standard of policing that was favorable to Muslims, she was terminated.

Covering up Islamic pedophile rings

A recent report found that the government suppressed evidence of Pakistani Muslim pedophile gangs to avoid accusations of racism. Between the 1990s and the 2010s, thousands of young White girls in the UK, some as young as 10, were sexually exploited by Pakistani pedophile rings. In the town of Rotherham alone, an estimated 1,400 children were sexually assaulted by such gangs, subjected to molestation, gang rapes, beatings, and intimidation. Some minors were doused in gasoline and threatened with being burned alive if they reported the sexual offenses to anyone.

According to one analysis, Pakistanis comprise roughly two-thirds of pedophiles but just 4% of the population. A majority of them are Muslim migrants.

Many of the victims who sought justice were turned away by British authorities, who feared appearing racist. A recent audit conducted by Baroness Louise Casey on behalf of the British government found that when victims reported the sexual assaults to police, they were “ignored, treated like criminals and often arrested themselves.” In several cases, girls as young as 13 who were found being sexually exploited by several Pakistani men were arrested for being drunk and disorderly. The men were not charged. In other cases, parents were arrested when they tried to rescue their children from these pedophile rings.

Casey’s report confirmed that police deliberately did not record the ethnicity of the sex offenders because it might be seen as racist. Public officials have ignored the issue “for fear of appearing racist, raising community tensions or causing community cohesion problems.”
