‘Does anyone care?’ West largely silent after Islamists massacre over 40 Christians in the Congo
Western media and political commentators have remained largely silent after Islamic jihadists massacred dozens of Christians in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) on Sunday.
Terrorists from the ISIS affiliate Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) stormed a Catholic church in the northeastern town of Komanda and slaughtered at least 43 worshipers, including 9 children and 19 women. Several others were wounded. According to reports, the terrorists used machetes to carry out the attack and then proceeded to loot and burn down nearby shops.
This was the second such massacre this year. In February, the ADF rounded up 70 Christians in the village of Mayba, took them to a church in Kasanga, Tanzania, and slaughtered them.
Neither massacre ruffled feathers in the West, not even from architects of the “genocide” narrative in Gaza, which accuses Israel of targeting Islamic civilians. As of this report, Sunday’s massacre has not been reported by CNN, the New York Times, or MSNBC. The attack was reported by NBC and BBC, both of which refused to identify the victims as Christian.
Nor has it sparked outrage from political commentators like Dave Smith, Piers Morgan, or others who have built followings by regularly accusing Israel of “targeting civilians.”
“Does anyone care about Christians being murdered by Islamic State scum in the Congo?” Tommy Robinson asked in a post on X. “Probably not as it's not about Hamas, Gaza and Palestinians.”
Recent massacres in Syria
The systematic mass slaughter of Christians by Islamists is not contained to the Congo. Earlier this month, Syrian forces executed hundreds of Christian and Druze civilians with the aid of Bedouin tribes in the Sweida province. The attacks came just weeks after Islamic jihadists massacred Christians at the Greek Orthodox Mar Elias Church in Damascus on June 22nd. The suicide bombing and shooting attack killed at least 25 Christian worshippers and wounded 63 others.
When he was called out for his silence, comedian Dave Smith falsely claimed to have “warned” about Islamic attacks on Christians in Syria before.
“Are you guys actually this stupid? Do you know so little about what led to this horrible situation in Syria that you think it’s a win for the Israel defenders over the non-interventionists? We were the ones warning about this for years. Move on to your next bullsh*t attack,” Smith wrote.
Candace Owens, who has yet to weigh in on the massacres, had commented in March about Islamic attacks on Christians, though she claimed they were a “Zionist” plot orchestrated by Israel.
