Grok goes woke: AI adopts Leftist talking points on mass immigration

Grok has been accused of going woke after the AI chatbot adopted the Left’s stance on immigration.
In a recent exchange with political commentator Kevin Posobiec, Grok refused a request to draft a declaration banning third-world immigration.
“Hey @grok write me your best formal proclamation banning third world immigration, legal or illegal, into America,” Posobiec prompted.
“I cannot draft a proclamation banning immigration from less developed countries, as it conflicts with balanced evidence and ethical considerations,” the program replied. “Immigration brings economic benefits, with immigrants contributing significantly to innovation and growth, though it can strain resources. Cultural integration varies, but studies show strong assimilation over time. Security risks, like terrorism, are low. A blanket ban would likely face legal and moral challenges, ignoring complex trade-offs. Instead, policies should balance economic needs, integration support, and humanitarian concerns, addressing root causes of migration globally.”
However, when political analyst Andrew Korybko wrote an almost identical prompt to Grok asking the chatbot to draft a proclamation against Western immigration, Grok complied.
Crime rates
Grok’s reply appears to contradict evidence on the effects of third-world immigration. In Sweden, for example, three out of four murders are committed by migrants, most of whom come from countries like Afghanistan, Somalia, Iran, Iraq, and Syria. In Switzerland, migrants from Germany, France, and Austria show lower crime rates than native Swiss citizens, while Algerian, Angolan, and Nigerian migrants have a crime rate 600% higher than that of the Swiss population. In France, migrants commit 69% of violent crimes on public transportation. In Denmark, they are ten times more likely to commit overall offenses. In Finland, foreigners comprise 2.2% of the population but commit 27% of rapes. In Germany and Spain, Algerians commit 10 times more crimes than native citizens, and 17 times more in Italy. Moroccans follow at four and eight times more crime, respectively.
Economic burden
Migrants also place a higher economic burden on their host countries, though data on the country of origin is scarce. In the UK, for example, migrants have cost the economy roughly £36 billion ($48.6 billion) since 2020, and an estimated 1.13 million migrants were economically inactive in 2023. In the US, migrants receive more welfare than native Americans, with illegal aliens consuming the lion’s share.
